sILVER jEWELRY

I love designing and making silver jewelry!  It looks so smooth and silky, yet its hard and takes some quite rough treatment to shape it, and watching it become liquid is mesmerising. I designed my squid set in 2010-11, my very first silver smithing project.  I've [painted squid a lot, and eaten it more, but shaping sterling silver into wearable art jewelry was a really fun new method of making art for me!  The surface of the "body" is sanded for texture, the "tentacles" hammered silver or silver wire.  They are very mobile peices and flow in the wind or with movement, just like the majestic animals rippling in a current.

I am inspired by squid and romance.
